A manufacturer issues a product change notification three months before a planned production ramp. A second source was never qualified, and now there is no alternative. A counterfeit lot slips through receiving inspection and corrupts a build. Each event is recoverable on its own; in combination, they consume the schedule float that was meant for engineering.
